Margarita Sanchez

Margarita Sanchez is a common and civil law trained lawyer with more than a decade of experience in international law, specializing in international arbitration, litigation, and global anti-corruption. She has a wealth of experience in investor-State arbitration. Sanchez has advised and represented both States and investors under most of the major institutional rules, in cases arising from bilateral investment treaties, and free trade agreements, including CAFTA-DR. She counsels multinational companies on compliance matters, including the design, implementation, assessment of anti-corruption compliance program, and conducts internal investigations. Sanchez has been repeatedly recognized as a leading legal practitioner in the United States and Colombia by Chambers Global. She was recently named among the “Top 50 Female Lawyers specializing in Latin America” by Latinvez, and “Top Lawyer Under 40” by the Hispanic National Bar Association. Sanchez is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown Law in Washington DC, and a frequent guest speaker in international conferences. She holds a Masters degree in Law from American University and a Juris Doctor degree from Universidad del Norte, Colombia.
