Jodie Kirshner is on the faculty of the University of Cambridge where she teaches Corporate, Corporate Insolvency, and Cross-border Law. She is currently the Deputy Director of the Cambridge LLM program, as well as a fellow of Peterhouse College, Cambridge. Kirshner previously served as the Deputy Director of the Cambridge Centre for Corporate and Commercial Law.
Prior to joining the Cambridge law faculty, She completed research fellowships at the Oxford Centre for Socio-Legal Studies and the Cambridge Centre for Business Research as a Fulbright Scholar, the London Business School Centre for Corporate Governance, and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg, Germany. She served as a federal judicial clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and worked as a litigator at Cravath Swaine & Moore LLP and Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP in New York.
Kirshner received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and graduate degrees from Columbia University in New York. She is a member of the New York bar. She has published in popular journals, in addition to academic reviews, and lectured in the U.S., Asia, and across Europe. Her recent publications include: Why is the U.S. Abdicating the Policy of Multinational Corporations to Europe?: Extraterritoriality, Sovereignty, and the Alien Tort Statute 30 Berkeley J. Int’l L. 259 (2012), and The Indian Anomaly: Rethinking Credit Rating Agency Regulation From the Economic Perspective of Hyman Minsky, forthcoming in the Columbia Journal of Asian law· Kirshner is also a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a think tank based in New York and Washington, D.C.
